Go the Extra Mile for Good Cause at Clitheroe Castle

Published Tuesday, 08 March 2016

Ribble Valley residents are invited to dust down their trainers and go the extra mile for one of the nation’s favourite causes.

Ribble Valley Borough Council is inviting residents to sign up for Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at Clitheroe Castle on Sunday, 20 March.

Sport Relief Mile will see hundreds of thousands of walkers and runners take to the tarmac across the country in a bid to tackle poverty.

Ribble Valley residents can run, walk or jog a one, three or six-mile circuit of Clitheroe Castle, setting off from the castle bandstand at 11am.

The council's sports development officer, Peter Fletcher, said: “Sport Relief Mile offers everyone, from mums and toddlers to seasoned runners, the chance to take part in the biggest mile in history.

"Last year’s event attracted 300 participants and we are looking forward to an even bigger and better turnout this year.”

Sport Relief has raised over £262million since being launched in 2002 to help people living tough lives in the UK and across the world.

The entry price for Sport Relief Mile is £7 for adults, £3 for children and £17 for families. To register for the Clitheroe Castle event, visit sportrelief.com or phone Peter Fletcher on 01200 425111.
