Jobcentre to Relocate to Borough Council OfficesPublished Wednesday, 09 March 2016
Clitheroe Jobcentre Plus is to relocate to the Ribble Valley Borough Council Offices.
The move, which will safeguard the employment service and five jobs, will take place later this year.
It will mean that the 200 Ribble Valley residents who use Jobcentre Plus in person each week will not have to travel to Blackburn 11 miles and a £6.10 return bus fare away.
Ribble Valley Borough Council chief executive Marshal Scott said: “We are delighted that Clitheroe Jobcentre Plus is to relocate to the Council Offices.
“Locating the centre at the Council Offices has advantages for both organisations and will be convenient for service users.
“We have worked closely with the Department for Work and Pensions to safeguard this important service for our residents.”
Steve Johnson, Jobcentre Plus district manager, said: “I am delighted with today’s announcement.
“Locating our services at Ribble Valley Borough Council presents opportunities for closer working, which will improve how we deliver services to the people who need them, while providing best value for taxpayers.”
Jobcentre Plus is a Government employment agency and social security office run by the Department for Work and Pensions that helps people find employment.
The Ribble Valley Borough Council Offices are based in Church Walk, Clitheroe.
