Cycling enthusiasts are invited to saddle up for the second Ribble Valley Cycling Festival.

The festival, from 2 - 12 June, will feature a host of activities, including led cycle rides, a pop-up ‘Velodroam’ and a Clitheroe town centre bike race.

The Clitheroe Castle bandstand will host a bike-powered concert on Friday, 3 June, while the Ribble Valley Triathlon Club will hold “Try a tri” introductory sessions for juniors and seniors on Sunday, 7 June.

Events will also take place throughout the week at the Green Jersey cycle shop in Clitheroe.

Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Stuart Hirst said: “Ribble Valley is one of the UK’s premier visitor destinations, with a national reputation for fine food and drink, outstanding independent shops and stunning countryside.

“The borough is also fast becoming a hotspot for cycling enthusiasts, due to its beautiful and varied landscape.

“Hosting Stage Two of the 2015 Aviva Tour of Britain brought the borough a tremendous boost and we are looking forward to another fantastic cycling event.”

Ribble Valley Borough Council sports development officer and festival organiser Peter Fletcher added: “Last year’s cycling festival was a huge success and the buzz it created was fantastic.

“It gave us a great platform on which to build for the future and we are inviting residents to saddle up and join us for what promises to be another fabulous family-friendly festival.”

The 2016 Ribble Valley Cycling Festival brochure is available from the Ribble Valley Borough Council Offices, Clitheroe Visitor Information Centre or Longridge Community Gym.
