Clitheroe Swimming Pool Reopens After £250,000 RefurbishmentPublished Wednesday, 29 March 2017
Clitheroe's public swimming pool officially reopened today (Wednesday 29 March) after a £250,000 three-month refurbishment.
Ribblesdale Pool in Edisford Road has undergone extensive modernisation to its reception and changing rooms, and the pool has been re-tiled.
The £250,000 scheme has been funded by Ribble Valley Borough Council, which owns the pool, and Sport England.
Members of the public were involved in the design of the refurbishment, which includes changing rooms specifically for the disabled and families, a brighter environment and more user-friendly waiting and refreshment areas.
Robert Thompson, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s community services committee, said: “We are seeing increasing numbers of people starting to swim again and the refurbishment has given us an opportunity to revitalize the popular pool.
“We consulted the public during the design of the refurbishment and their feedback has contributed significantly towards the quality of the facility.
“Ribblesdale Pool is popular with residents and swimming groups, and we now have a truly modern facility that will serve the needs of the community for many years to come.
“We are extremely grateful to Sport England, whose generosity has made the refurbishment possible.”
The official reopening was performed by Ribble Valley Mayor Joyce Holgate.
