Deadline for Proxy Vote ApplicationsPublished Wednesday, 24 May 2017
Ribble Valley residents are reminded that the deadline for making a new application to vote by proxy in time for the forthcoming General Election is Wednesday, 31 May.
The UK goes to the polls in a snap General Election on Thursday, 8 June, and registered electors unable to attend a polling station can send someone to vote on their behalf, called a proxy vote, if they apply to do so by 5pm on 31 May.
The election has attracted four candidates for the Ribble Valley constituency: Nigel Evans (The Conservative Party), David Hinder (Labour Party), Allan Knox (Liberal Democrat) and Graham Sowter (The Green Party).
Applications to vote by proxy on the grounds of physical incapacity or work/service reasons can be made until 5pm on polling day. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on 31 May, or the person must have become aware that they could not attend the polling station for work/service reasons after 5pm on 31 May.
Polling takes place on Thursday, 8 June, from 7am to 10pm, and a list of polling stations is available.
