Twenty-six new affordable homes will be available at an exclusive development in Longridge from Spring 2018.

The two and three-bedroom bungalows and houses will be available for affordable rent and shared ownership at Tootle Green in Dilworth Lane.

The properties have been developed by Taylor Wimpey in association with Chorley Community Housing – part of the Adactus Housing Group – and Ribble Valley Borough Council.

The development will comprise eight two and three-bedroom houses and four two-bedroom bungalows for affordable rent and eight two and three-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom bungalows for shared ownership.

The scheme has yet to be officially launched, but demand for the properties is expected to be high and interested residents with a Ribble Valley and specifically Longridge connection are advised to register without delay.

Rachael Stott, Ribble Valley Borough Council’s housing strategy officer, said: “The provision of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing the council and we are working closely with our housing partners to address the problem.

“We are delighted to have supported this excellent scheme, which will make much-needed high-quality affordable rental and shared ownership properties available in Longridge.”

Longridge borough councillor Rupert Swarbrick added: “I am regularly asked why there are no affordable homes for Longridge residents, particularly for the young and elderly, and this scheme will go some way in addressing the problem.

“These affordable homes are good news for Longridge and I would encourage interested people to register without delay.”

House prices in Ribble Valley are way above the national average and first-time buyers are being forced out of the communities their families have lived in for generations.

Ribble Valley Borough Council is at the forefront of several housing initiatives, from the provision of affordable properties in partnership with the housing sector to cutting-edge energy efficiency.
