Free Listings in Top Visitor Guide up for Grabs

Published Tuesday, 17 October 2017

Events in Ribble Valley that have the potential to attract visitors are being offered a slot in the borough’s top-selling tourist guide – for free!

Ribble Valley Borough Council is working on next year’s Discover Ribble Valley and inviting submissions for its popular What’s On section.

And a number of advertisement packages, which include a prominent spot on the borough’s visitor web site, visitribblevalley.co.uk, are also up for grabs from as little as £200.

The popular guide was redesigned as a glossy magazine three years’ ago following consultation with customers and advertisers and has been a great success, doubling in size from previous editions and attracting significant interest.

It features sections on food, shopping, heritage, outdoor activities, particularly cycling and walking; weddings, the arts, a What’s On and comprehensive accommodation listings.

The council’s tourism and events officer, Tom Pridmore, said: “Discover Ribble Valley focuses on businesses with a real story to tell offering authentic visitor experiences.

“The guide has been very well received since undergoing a revamp and demand for it is increasing year-on-year.”

Latest figures have revealed that day-trippers and holidaymakers are flocking to Ribble Valley in their droves. Visitor numbers now top 4.07million per year spending around £225.9 million between them.

Ribble Valley Borough Council’s tourism team works in partnership with Marketing Lancashire and the Ribble Valley Tourism Association to promote and develop the local visitor economy.

It also produces the popular Discover Ribble Valley, which is distributed to tourism exhibitions and visitor information centres across the UK.

Tom Pridmore added: “We have started work on the 2018 edition, which is being produced in partnership with Creative Council of Burnley, whose reputation for producing quality guides is growing rapidly.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone holding an event that has the potential to attract visitors to the borough to feature in the guide’s What’s On section for free, or take advantage of our competitive advertising rates.”

To list an event or request an advertising pack go to visitribblevalley.co.uk or phone Ribble Valley Borough Council on 01200 425111 by 30 October.
