Affordable Apartments up for Grabs in LongridgePublished Wednesday, 18 October 2017
TWO one-bedroom apartments are up for grabs in Longridge for less than £90 per week rent.
And residents throughout the borough looking for affordable housing are advised to register on the council’s housing waiting list.
Over 100 affordable properties for rent, shared ownership or discount sale will be available over the coming year to households with a local connection – for example, who live or work in the borough, or need to move nearer relatives – and annual earnings below £80,000.
And two one-bedroom affordable flats are up for grabs immediately at the Old Coop Building in Berry Lane, Longridge.
Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Ken Hind said: “The provision of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing the council and we are working closely with our housing partners to address this problem.
“New properties are becoming available in Clitheroe, Longridge, Whalley, Billington, Gisburn, Chipping and Barrow over the coming year and demand is expected to be high, so we advise anyone in need of accommodation to register their interest without delay.”
The Old Coop Building in Berry Lane received a £1.5million refurbishment 10 years ago in a partnership between Ribble Valley Borough Council and Great Places Housing that saw the former grocery store, library and reading room converted to 15 one and two-bedroomed apartments.
The rent on the apartments is £89.16 per week and further details are available from Ribble Valley Borough Council on 01200 425111.
