Eleven Affordable Bungalows Available in WhalleyPublished Wednesday, 18 October 2017
Eleven much-needed affordable bungalows are available at a picturesque Whalley development thanks to a unique partnership between Ribble Valley Borough Council and David Wilson Homes.
The one-bedroom bungalows with open plan living areas and shower rooms are available at Monk’s Cross in Mitton Road.
The properties are set in green spaces and have dedicated parking places, making them ideal for mature residents in an area where affordable bungalows are almost non-existent.
Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Ken Hind said: “The provision of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing the council and affordable bungalows are particularly scarce.
"We are working closely with developers and housing associations to address this problem and our partnership with David Wilson will bring much-needed high-quality accommodation specifically for older residents to the borough.”
James Griffith, sales manager at David Wilson Homes, added: “Monk’s Cross is a superb development with fantastic views of surrounding countryside.
“We are delighted to have partnered Ribble Valley Borough Council in this scheme, which will bring much-needed affordable bungalows to the housing market.”
There is a dearth of accommodation suitable for young single people and the elderly in Ribble Valley and the council is at the forefront of several housing initiatives, from the provision of affordable properties in partnership with housing associations and developers, to cutting-edge energy efficiency.
Eleven bungalows are available at Monk’s Cross for a 30 per cent discount on the market value, which must be passed on in future sales.
The properties are available to anyone who lives or works in Whalley and further details are available from Ribble Valley Borough Council’s housing team on 01200 425111.
