‘Life is too short to drink bad wine’ German writer Goethe famously said – and you can learn how to spot a top tipple at this year’s Clitheroe Food Festival.
Jane Cuthbertson of leading independent wine merchant Barrica Wines is to give a tasting-talk during the festival and early-bird tickets are up for grabs for just £7.
Jane’s lively interactive talks outlining how wine is made, what to look for in a good wine, how to tell if wine is corked and how to read a wine list are extremely popular and it is the sixth time she has taken the stage at the festival.
Simon Hore, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s community committee, said: “Barrica Wines is one of Lancashire’s leading independent wine retailers and we are delighted to welcome them to the Clitheroe Food Festival for the sixth year.
“Jane’s lively talks are extremely popular and unsurprisingly tickets are selling fast.”
The Clitheroe Food Festival, organised by Ribble Valley Borough Council and sponsored by Deli Solutions, Lloyd BMW Colne and Fort Vale Engineering, attracts thousands of food enthusiasts seeking the best Lancashire produce.
This year’s event, on Saturday, August 11, features a huge array of foods, from organic meat and dairy goods made from traditional Lancashire breeds, to handmade pies and pastries, wonderful ice-cream, delicious cakes and a feast of fruit and vegetables packed with authentic flavours, as well as inspirational chefs, family-friendly culinary activities and great music.
And Barrica Wines joins chocolatier Choc Amor and the Brindle Distillery for a series of tasting-talks in the Ribble Valley Civic Suite in Church Street, Clitheroe.
