Top Chocolatier to give Tasting-Talk at Food Festival

A chocolatier with an international reputation and a slab of top awards is to give a tasting-talk at this year’s Clitheroe Food Festival.

Paul Williams, one of the UK’s most inventive chocolatiers, will outline the many ways to eat chocolate in the Ribble Valley Civic Suite.

When it comes to unique and imaginative chocolate, Choc Amor, of Cedar Farm, Mawdesley, has it wrapped up.

Paul and wife Jacqui make their chocolate by hand in small batches using natural ingredients and the best Belgian couverture.

They have over 30 industry awards, including bronze medals from the 2017 International Chocolate Awards for their Turkish charm and bitter orange flavours. Bitter orange also won one of four bronze awards at the 2018 Academy of Chocolate Awards, while Choc Amor was named best chocolatier in Lancashire at the 2018 UK Enterprise Awards.

Paul’s lively tasting-talk will outline his career as a chocolatier, how he devises his unique flavours – among them orange jalfrezi, chipotle and sea salt, and three pepper – and the many different ways to eat and savour chocolate.

The Clitheroe Food Festival, organised by Ribble Valley Borough Council and sponsored by Deli Solutions, Lloyd BMW Colne, Fort Vale Engineering and Bowland Brewery, attracts thousands of food enthusiasts seeking the best Lancashire produce.

This year’s event, on Saturday, 11 August, features a huge array of foods, from organic meat and dairy goods made from traditional Lancashire breeds, to Asian treats, Thai pies, Biltong beef and a feast of fruit and vegetables packed with flavour.

It will be complemented by family-friendly activities, including the ever-popular Mad Science, and nonstop music from a solar-powered stage.

Choc Amor joins Barrica Wines and the Brindle Distillery for a series of tasting-talks in the Ribble Valley Civic Suite in Church Street, Clitheroe, throughout the day.
