Electors in Ribble Valley are invited to have their say on the borough’s ‘polling places’.

Councils are required by law to review their polling places every five years to ensure they are meeting the needs of electors.

So, if you vote in Ribble Valley, or any parliamentary constituency that has a part in the borough, you are invited to have your say on where you vote, such as how convenient it is in relation to where you live, whether there is adequate parking and what access is available for people with disabilities, or wheelchair users.

The Ribble Valley Borough Council area is divided into polling districts, with one or more polling districts making up a ward.

A polling place is an area or building in a polling district in which a polling station is situated.

Polling places usually contain one polling station, but sometimes two.

Ribble Valley Borough Council chief executive Marshal Scott, who is the borough’s returning officer, said: “We are reviewing our polling places to ensure that all our electors have reasonable facilities in which to vote and that as far as possible they are accessible to electors who are disabled.

“We particularly welcome the views of anyone with expertise in access to premises or facilities for people with any type of disability.”

Electors can take part in the review by answering a few simple questions in an online survey.

Comments can be made on existing or proposed new polling places and where possible should offer suggestions for alternative places.

The survey is available at ribblevalley.gov.uk, along with the review notice and an explanatory document, called Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2024.

Details of current polling places and future recommended sites can be viewed at ribblevalley.gov.uk, at the Council Offices in Church Walk, Clitheroe, or Clitheroe, Whalley and Longridge Libraries.

Representations must be made in writing by Friday, February 2, at survey@ribblevalley.gov.uk or by post to Principal Policy and Performance Officer, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Church Walk, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 2RA.
