Parish Review for Wiswell
Published Thursday 26th August 10
A REVIEW is underway into whether the parish of Wiswell should be divided in two.
Wiswell Parish Council has asked Ribble Valley Borough Council to consider whether the Wiswell parish should be divided into two parishes for Barrow and a smaller Wiswell.
At present Barrow forms part of the parish of Wiswell and is represented by Wiswell Parish Council.
The review, called a community governance review, will consider where the boundaries between the proposed new parishes will lie, what they will be called and what electoral arrangements they will have.
Ribble Valley Borough Council's chief executive, Marshal Scott, said: "We are keen to ensure that any changes reflect the identities and interests of the Wiswell and Barrow communities.
"We are therefore seeking the views of interested persons on this matter, particularly whether the parish of Wiswell should be divided or changed.
"The consultation is aimed principally at Wiswell parish residents, although views from other groups or individuals are welcome."
Consultation documents are available from the Ribble Valley Borough Council Offices in Church Walk, Clitheroe, the council's web site, or Whalley Library. The matter will also be discussed at the next meeting of Wiswell Parish Council at Barrow School on Monday, September 20. The meeting starts at 7pm and everyone is welcome.
Ends.
