The Gallery


The Platform Gallery is situated in the historic market town of Clitheroe in the heart of the Ribble Valley. The gallery is located in a prime position in the old railway station building, built in 1870. The gallery was awarded an Arts Lottery Grant in 2001 and was totally refurbished to provide an airy contemporary craft exhibition space, shop and education facilities.


Exhibitions

The Platform Gallery hosts up to 8 exhibitions per year, including solo, group and themed shows. The emphasis is on high quality contemporary craft by both national and local makers.

Shop

The shop features an ever-changing selection of ceramics, glass, wood, textiles and jewellery and much more! Our opening hours are Monday - Friday from 10am - 4.30pm. The Craft Shop remains open whilst exhibitions are being changed. The shop has credit card facilities and gift vouchers are available. All sales from the exhibition or the craft shop from £100.00 up to £2000 can be purchased through the Own Art loan scheme. Please call the gallery for details or see www.artscouncil.org.uk/ownart.

Workshops and Activities

We provide workshops and talks alongside every exhibition throughout the year. During August we also run children's craft workshops. Please contact the Platform Gallery on 01200 443071 for details. The education room is available for hire to artists and community groups for creative activities, talks, workshops, exhibitions etc. The room is available for sessions running from 1 hour to a full day.
