UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The government approved our investment plan in December 2022 with the first year’s allocation (£238,805) received in January 2023. This resulted in a very short period to spend our allocation. To ensure plans were in place to spend this allocation quickly the Council’s Investment Plan included the following projects:

• Rail Feasibility study
• Additional CCTV Provision (pilot project)
• Refurbishment of Mardale Playing Field Changing Rooms, Longridge
• Clitheroe Market Feasibility Study
• Business support for net zero transition & decarbonisation

The feasibility studies were commenced. On confirmation that our Plan had been accepted works commenced at Mardale and a Service Level Agreement has been entered into with the Chamber of Commerce in respect of the Business support project (see below).

The Mardale scheme has been expanded to include improvements to the car parking facilities and additional work is ongoing in respect of the feasibility of installing EV charging points in our village and other car parks.
