Junior archaeologists: Neolithic pottery workshop at Clitheroe Castle

Join the Festival of Archaeology 2025. Discover the prehistoric past through pottery and make your own coil pot to take home.
Celebrate the Festival of Archaeology 2025 and book your young archaeologists (age 7+) onto one of our kid's activities.
Discover the prehistoric past through pottery. Get messy with some clay and learn about the invention of pottery from thumb pots to coil pots. Look at designs and replicate using sticks, stamps and fingernails.
Each young archaeologist will take their coil pot home and receive their very own certificate to take away, too!
The pottery session lasts around 45 minutes. Pottery sessions are £2.50 per child. Please book online here https://www6.apps.lancashire.gov.uk/w/webpage/event-details?eventid=2028351 or contact the museum for more information.
Doors open for registration at 1.15pm and the session will start at 1.30pm prompt. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
