Get Creative and be “Inspired by Nature”
This summer the Platform Gallery in Clitheroe is inviting people of all ages to get creative and share their love of nature.
Gallery staff want children and adults to brush up on their artistic skills to create work that will be exhibited to the public at the end of this month.
There’s still time to get your artistic juices flowing and have your work on public display for all to see.
Gallery supervisor Jacklyn Shackleton said: “We know we have a wealth of artistic talent and the ideal subject matter right on our doorstep and we want to tap into that.
“The subject of the exhibition will be ‘Inspired by Nature’ and we’re fortunate to be surrounded by a rich and diverse natural landscape that we want people to celebrate in any way they feel’s best.
“That might be by using a cameras, your phone, pen and pencil, by brush and watercolour, ceramics or textiles or in any other creative way. We want people to get out into the countryside and share their love of the nature around them.
“It doesn’t matter about your age or ability; the most important things is that you’ve been inspired by nature and embraced your creativity.”
Entries are welcome from all ages and abilities across all art forms and as many as possible will feature in a community exhibition at the Platform Gallery at the end of the month.
The deadline for entries is the 19 August – you can bring your finished creation to the gallery during opening hours between 17 - 19 August.
If your entry is larger than one square metre please speak to gallery staff before submitting it to check there is space to accommodate it.
A quick trip into the countryside should be enough to get the creative juices flowing, but if you need some inspiration you will find it in a summer exhibition that showcases artists “Inspired by Nature” which is running at the gallery.
