Annual Craft Open exhibition showcases talent from Ribble Valley and beyond

The annual Craft Open exhibition at the Platform Gallery in Clitheroe is drawing in visitors across the North West – and there’s still time to enjoy the showcase of artistic talent.
The exhibition runs until 5th July and entry is free.
A search for talented and imaginative people from across the region was launched earlier this year and attracted a wide range of eye-catching creations.
Craft Open provides anyone from professional artists to amateur hobbyists or students with a “platform” to show off their work to a wider audience.
The exhibition features works in textiles, ceramics, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork and glass from around 40 new and returning artists.
Gallery supervisor Jack Shackleton said: “We’ve been delighted with the response from visitors to Craft Open so far.
“We managed to find a wide range of work in various mediums that really highlights the wonderfully wide and varied range of talented and imaginative artists we have in Lancashire and the North West as a whole.”
The prize-winners announced so far are:
Newcomer- Peter Murphy
Selectors – Janet Irons
Ribble Valley- Karin Pinder
The People’s prize-winner is yet to be drawn; it will be decided on votes casts by visitors to the exhibition.
The Platform Gallery, which is next to Clitheroe railway station, is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm; Saturday 10am-4.30pm; and Sunday 11am-4pm.
