A series of free summer fun activities guaranteed to keep away the school holiday boredom blues will get under way at the Platform Gallery, Clitheroe, over the coming weeks.

The summer Sunday events range from dropping a samba beat on the drums to being thrilled and chilled by local myths and legends.

All the events are free and generally you can just drop-in and get involved, although a couple require pre-booking as places will be limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Gallery supervisor Claire Philips said: “We’ve got an exciting series of craft-based sessions to get the imagination running and give visitors of all ages the chance to learn some new skills. They’re going to be great fun so why not come along and get involved?

“They’re free and indoors so perfect for a rainy summer Sunday, or if you’re stuck for something to do during the school holidays whatever the weather!”

The sessions (drop-in unless otherwise stated) are as follows:

  • 20th July – Brazilian samba drumming workshop 1-3pm
  • 27th July – printmaking noon-3pm
  • 3rd August – local folklore storytelling 1-3pm
  • 17th August – felting 1pm start (booking essential)
  • 24th August – staff from iCYCLE talking about all things cycling; how to be road safe; cycling confidence building, local routes etc (ages 14+)
  • 31st August – fused glass 1-3pm (ages 16+, booking essential)
