Taxi Safety Checks Help Keep the Public Safe in Ribble Valley
A joint operation by the council and DVSA saw officers carry out a further round of spot checks in Ribble Valley to ensure the safety and reliability of taxis in the area.
During the inspections, a total of 10 hackney carriages and private hire vehicles were thoroughly examined.
Of those, eight were found to meet the expected standards. Two were issued with delayed prohibition notices and given seven days to rectify the faults. Both vehicles were repaired the same day and the prohibitions lifted.
Councillor Ian Brown, chairman of the council’s licensing committee, said:
“It’s vital that vehicles used to transport people around meet the highest standards.
“The council and DVSA will continue to carry out regular inspections of licensed vehicles in the borough to help ensure standards are kept high and passengers, and drivers, are kept safe.
The checks were carried out on 21 July 2026.
