Sheltered Housing for the Over-55s Available in Longridge

Published: 24th February 2022

If you are looking for somewhere to live in Longridge where you can enjoy your independence in a secure, friendly environment you might want to try sheltered housing.

A number of sheltered accommodation units have become available at the Park House and Towneley House sheltered housing schemes.

The one and two-bedroom self-contained units and studio apartments feature central heating, a bathroom, kitchen and lounge, as well as a scheme manager or emergency response system on hand to help with problems.

The schemes also have a communal lounge for social activities, such as coffee mornings, bingo, concerts, luncheon clubs, afternoon teas and card evenings, plus residents have the use of communal laundry facilities, car parking and landscaped gardens.

And each unit has a pull cord connected to a round-the-clock emergency response system.

Ribble Valley Borough Council’s housing strategy manager, Rachael Stott, said: “Sheltered accommodation is popular with older residents, who may feel isolated where they live, or want to enjoy the company of other people in a friendly atmosphere, while remaining independent, but with the peace of mind of round-the-clock assistance, should they need it.

“Sheltered housing offers a range of social activities and contact with other residents enabling you to maintain an active social life, even if you become frail, which can help alleviate loneliness, isolation, anxiety and depression.

“Demand for sheltered housing in Ribble Valley is high, but a number of units have become available in Longridge and we are asking anyone who is interested to register their interest without delay.”

Sheltered housing in Longridge is available to residents aged over 55 and rents start at around £390 a month, plus service charges.
