It Takes a Village: A Whole Village Approach to Physical Activity

Together an Active Future is a Pennine Lancashire project, funded by Sport England, that is bringing together local people and partners to improve the opportunities for people to be more active. As part of this project Ribble Valley Borough Council is looking to appoint a suitable Active Village Workstream Lead to help it deliver its ambitions to create a network of active villages across the Ribble Valley.

To date we have successfully tested a ‘Whole Village’ approach on the village of Dunsop Bridge. The Council worked with a local lead partner to engage with residents and village influencers / gatekeepers including the local GP surgery, local school, village hall and the parish council to identify how we can help more people to be more physically active. As result of this Dunsop Bridge is becoming demonstrably and measurably a more active village.

We are now ready to move forward into the next phase of our plans where we want to take what we’ve learned from our work in Dunsop Bridge and scale up this work to create a network of Active Villages across Ribble Valley. To do this we need to appoint an Active Village Workstream Lead with the relevant experience, expertise and enthusiasm to work with us and take this forward.

If you are interested in tendering for this work then the Council’s requirements, instructions to tenderers and other details about the works are set out in the documents listed below.

The closing date for the return of all documents is 2:00pm on Friday 15 March 2024.

Those intending to Tender are advised to regularly check this page for any amendments or additions. Should there be any, these will be clearly identified.
