Local Development Framework (LDF)
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act was published in 2004. The Act overhauled the planning system and the way in which future plans are produced by Local Planning Authorities. Under this Act, Ribble Valley Borough Council were required to replace the Districtwide Local Plan (against which all planning applications for development were assessed) with a new Development Plan for the borough. When complete, this will be comprised of national and local planning policy. The local planning policy will be set out as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF). Details of what this will contain is set out in the Local Development Scheme.
The first of the new Development Plan document - the Core Strategy - was formally adopted by the Council on 16 December 2014.
The emerging Housing and Economic Development DPD is available to be viewed.
The LDF has to be produced based upon a robust evidence base, which informs the LDF policies. View the LDF Evidence base.
