  • Why is the pool closing?
    To undertake essential refurbishment work which will enable it to remain open for future years.
  • When is the pool closing?
    It is expected to close in April 2026 after Easter but the exact date has not been finalised.
  • What will happen to my membership contract?
    All memberships will be extended by the duration of the closure period, which is expected to be approximately 6 months. Note;- there will be the usual price increase taking place in April and new contract membership prices will be in place when the pool re-opens in October 2026.
  • Is there any continuation of junior swimming lessons at all during the closure?

  • Are there any continuity plans for general swimming?
    As the council does not operate any other pools in the borough, there is no direct operational provision available. Other 25m swimming pools which customers may wish to consider are Stonyhurst Pool, and in neighbouring authorities; Hyndburn Leisure, Burnley Leisure, and West View Better Health Leisure Centre, Preston.

Junior Swimming Lessons

As Ribblesdale Pool is due to close for essential works following the current block of junior swim lessons(ending 4 April 2026), we will be running top-up lessons to ensure that your child can continue progressing with their swimming.

These will be held at the following alternative venues:

  • Foxfields Country Hotel, Billington on Thursday and Friday evenings
  • Beacon Fell Holiday Park, Longridge on Wednesday evenings

These top-up lessons will be delivered in 6 week blocks and will continue to follow the Swim England framework, ensuring consistency in your child’s development and stage progression.

Block Details

  • £40.80 for 6 lesson block
  • 6 x 30 minute sessions
  • Wednesday - Friday classes available 4pm - 7pm
  • All sessions will have a qualified swimming instructor and a Ribblesdale Pool lifeguard present

To secure a place please contact 07483 162695 with your child’s current stage between Sunday March 8 2026 and Saturday April 4 2026. After this date, you can register your interest in by e-mailing Pool.Office@ribblevalley.gov.uk but please be aware that we expect slots to book up quickly. Unfortuantely it will not be possible to accommodate all members currently on lessons.
