Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is the pool closing?
To undertake essential refurbishment work which will enable it to remain open for future years. - When is the pool closing?
It is expected to close in April 2026 after Easter but the exact date has not been finalised. - What will happen to my membership contract?
All memberships will be extended by the duration of the closure period, which is expected to be approximately 6 months. Note;- there will be the usual price increase taking place in April and new contract membership prices will be in place when the pool re-opens in October 2026. - Is there any continuation of junior swimming lessons at all during the closure?
We are currently attempting to secure pool space at a neighbouring pool and expect to offer reduced size junior group swim lessons. Unfortuantely it will not be possible to accommodate all members currently on lessons. - Are there any continuity plans for general swimming?
As the council does not operate any other pools in the borough, there is no direct operational provision available. Other 25m swimming pools which customers may wish to consider are Stonyhurst Pool, and in neighbouring authorities; Hyndburn Leisure, Burnley Leisure, and West View Better Health Leisure Centre, Preston.
